About the E&S DJR 400 FX

The E&S DJR 400 FX is a four-channel analogue rotary DJ mixer, hand-built in Jérôme Barbé's Paris workshop and conceived with DJ Deep as the first portable rotary mixer. Mixdown ranks it among the most revered mixers in the world of DJing, and E&S builds no more than a hundred units a year, which is why it is so hard to find. Hiring the E&S DJR 400 FX in Madrid or anywhere in Spain lets DJs, clubs and promoters play on it without having to buy one.

What it is rented for

It is the mixer of choice for house, disco or techno sets in clubs, vinyl parties, listening bars and festival stages where the DJ asks for a true rotary. It pairs naturally with Technics 1210 M5G or Technics 1200 MK7 turntables, Pioneer CDJ 3000 players and Funktion One systems, with an Iso Stone + Squash under each deck to isolate vibration. The FX version adds per-channel effect sends with a single level-controlled return, ideal for hooking up an AlphaTheta RMX Ignite or an external delay and working dub-style effects live.

Key specs

  • 4 rotary channels with ALPS potentiometers: inputs 1 and 3 switchable phono/line, input 2 phono, input 4 line, with RIAA phono preamps.
  • Per-channel effect send (FX version): a send mixer feeds one Effect Send output, plus an Effect Return with its own level control.
  • 2-band Baxandall EQ per channel (±12 dB, 800 Hz crossover) and a 3-band master isolator at 300 Hz and 4 kHz, from −∞ to +12 dB.
  • Push-button PFL on every channel, mixable into the headphones.
  • Master and booth outputs on balanced XLR (up to +22 dBm, 600 Ω) and RCA; 0 to +14 dBm peak meter.
  • 10 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response (−1 dB) with a fully analogue signal path.
  • 280 × 210 × 70 mm and 2.8 kg; external 18 V AC power supply on a 4-pin XLR.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the DJR 400 and the DJR 400 FX?

The FX version adds an effect send per channel and a level-controlled return, as the block diagram in the E&S manual shows. According to Japanese retailer Shimamura, recent FX units also include cue/mix and cue LEDs, while the earliest did not; ask us about our unit.

Does it have a microphone input or channel gain?

No. As bonedo's review points out, the DJR 400 has neither channel gain controls nor a mic input: the whole level range is handled by each channel's rotary pot. If your event needs a microphone, ask us for an additional mixer from the catalogue.

How much does it cost to hire the E&S DJR 400 FX?

The hire price is €150 excluding VAT. Email info@peaksound.es or WhatsApp +34 636 410 986 with the date and venue of your event and we will confirm availability and send you a quote.
