About the Chandler TG1
The Chandler Limited TG1 is a stereo limiter/compressor recreating the EMI TG12413, a limiter used in EMI and Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles. The original TG12413 was never sold to the public. According to Chandler, it sat on every channel of the TG consoles used to record The Beatles' "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". The TG1 is all-discrete, with transformer-balanced inputs and outputs and diode-network limiting that produces smooth distortion. What it is rented for
It is a studio tool for tracking and mixing. Chandler's manual suggests that, as a general rule, Limit mode may be more usable for tracking and effect-type sounds, and Comp mode better for mixing. It is used on vocals, piano, bass, guitars and drum room mics, and also in parallel, blended under the uncompressed signal. From our catalogue, pair it with the Avalon 737 SP channel strip as a preamp, the Crane Song Ibis equaliser to boost frequencies into the limiter, and the Mytek 8 x ADDA 192 converter to patch it into your DAW.
Key specs

- Hold control (input gain and threshold in one knob) and a 21-position output switch in 1 dB steps (±10 dB) for level matching and recall.
- Transformer-balanced XLR inputs and outputs (pin 2 hot) and true hardwire bypass on each channel.
- 19" 2U rackmount; hand-wired and assembled in the USA.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent the Chandler TG1?
Chandler TG1 rental costs €120 per unit per day, excluding VAT. To check availability for your dates and get a quote, email info@peaksound.es or call or WhatsApp us on +34 636 410 986 (Mon–Fri 9–14 and 15–18). We work in Madrid and across Spain.
Does the TG1 have the harmonic distortion (THD) function?
It depends on the version. Chandler fits it as standard on the Abbey Road Special Edition TG1: a per-channel switch bypasses the compressor/limiter threshold but keeps the whole circuit in the signal path, turning the unit into a generator of up to 2% total harmonic distortion. If you need it, ask us which version is available when you request a quote.
Is a Chandler TG1 easy to get hold of in Spain?
The original EMI TG12413 was never sold to the public: only EMI-owned studios had it. Chandler's recreation is on sale, but Thomann Spain lists it at €4,190 including VAT, "on request" and with no arrival date (checked 16/10/2026). If you need one for a specific project, ask us about availability.
