About the Korg Electribe EMX-1

The Korg Electribe EMX-1 is a 2003 groovebox that combines a drum machine, synthesizer and step sequencer, with two real valves in the output stage. It suits producers, DJs and live acts in techno, house or electro who want to build rhythms and phrases without a laptop. Korg lists it as sold out, so hiring a Korg Electribe EMX-1 in Madrid is the practical way to use one for a gig or one-off session. Peak Entertainment rents it in Madrid and across Spain: ask us about availability.

What it is rented for

It works in electronic live sets, DJ sessions with hardware, showcases and recordings that call for a standalone machine for rhythms and synth phrases. It can act as MIDI clock master or slave, and its audio input lets you run an external source through the filter and effects. The L/Mono and R outputs connect to a line input on a mixer or to powered monitors, while individual outputs 3-4 let you send parts out separately. It could also be paired with DJ mixers, other drum machines and synths, or Funktion-One systems from our catalogue.

Key specs

  • 16 parts: 9 drum parts, 5 synth parts and 2 accent parts (one drum, one synth).
  • MMT engine with 16 synthesis models (Waveform, Sync, Cross Mod, Ring Mod, Chord, Unison, Waveshape and more), 207 drum waves and 76 PCM synth waves at 16-bit/44.1 kHz.
  • 4 filter types (LPF, HPF, BPF and BPF+) plus a Drive control.
  • Valve Force: two 12AX7/ECC83 valves on the output; the Tube Gain knob sets how much signal passes through the valves, and with it the amount of tube saturation, adding warmth and presence.

  • 3 stereo effect processors with 16 types each (reverb, delay, flanger, chorus, decimator, grain shifter and more), chainable; ribbon controller and slider for the arpeggiator.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire the Korg Electribe EMX-1?

Peak Entertainment's rental price is €50 excluding VAT. Email info@peaksound.es or WhatsApp +34 636 410 986 to check availability and get a quote for Madrid or anywhere in Spain.

Can I sync it with my DAW or other machines?

Yes. According to Korg's manual, the Clock setting (Int/Ext/Auto) lets the EMX-1 act as MIDI clock master or slave. Its MIDI connections are 5-pin DIN In/Out/Thru, so with a computer you need a MIDI interface. It also offers Auto BPM and tap tempo.

Do I need a SmartMedia card to use it?

No. The card is for saving and loading patterns and songs; you don't need it to play. Internal memory holds 256 patterns and 64 songs. If you create material, save it with Write before changing pattern or powering off, as unsaved edits are lost.
