About the Technics 1200 MK7

The Technics 1200 MK7 (SL-1200MK7) is the seventh and latest model in the MK line of Technics' direct-drive DJ turntable. The series launched in 1972 and remains a de facto standard for DJs; its 1979 MK2, the first model designed with them in mind, was embraced by clubs worldwide. Unveiled in 2019 as the first new Technics DJ deck in about nine years, it features a coreless motor developed for it. Peak Entertainment offers Technics 1200 MK7 hire in Madrid and across Spain for DJs, clubs and production companies.

What it is rented for

It suits vinyl sets in clubs, at festivals, private parties and brand events, as well as scratch and turntablism showcases or battles. It can be hired as a pair, or alongside the Technics 1210 M5G, and combined with a mixer from our catalogue such as the Allen & Heath Xone:92, Pioneer DJM 900 NXS2, PlayDifferently Model 1, Rane MP2015 or E&S DJR 400 FX. You can also add Ortofon cartridges from the catalogue, a Pioneer CDJ 3000 for hybrid sets and, if the event needs sound, a Funktion-One system.

Key specs

  • 0.18 N·m (1.8 kg·cm) starting torque and 0.7 s to reach 33 1/3 rpm; torque and brake speed individually adjustable in four steps.
  • Static-balance S-shaped tonearm with gimbal suspension and high-precision bearings, detachable headshell and 0–6 mm height adjustment.
  • Two-layer chassis (die-cast aluminium and glass-fibre ABS), 332 mm die-cast aluminium platter and four spring-and-rubber insulator feet, adjustable in height and tilt.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire the Technics 1200 MK7, and how do I book it?

The published hire price is €50 excluding VAT. For Madrid and anywhere in Spain, request a quote and availability with your event dates at info@peaksound.es or on WhatsApp at +34 636 410 986 (Mon–Fri, 9–14 and 15–18).

Is it suitable for scratching and heavy vinyl use?

Yes. Since the 1979 MK2, the SL-1200 series has been the most common choice for DJing and scratching. The MK7 keeps the S-shaped tonearm, which Technics says minimises stylus jumping even when scratching, and offers adjustable torque and brake plus reverse play.

Does the hire include a cartridge and stylus?

Technics supplies the MK7 with a headshell but lists no cartridge or stylus among its accessories. Peak's catalogue offers Ortofon cartridges for hire (Concorde Club MKII Twin, Concorde Nightclub II Twin, Concorde Scratch Twin and Twin Digital MKII Twin): tell us which you need when requesting availability.
