About the Avalon 737 SP
The Avalon 737 SP (Avalon VT-737sp) is a mono Class A valve channel strip: transformer-balanced mic preamp, instrument input, opto-compressor and four-band EQ in a 2U rack unit. For decades it has been the go-to vocal processor in pop, R&B and hip-hop studios. Peak Entertainment offers Avalon 737 SP rental in Madrid and across Spain for recording sessions, live shows and productions that need a studio-grade vocal preamp without buying a unit that costs over €4,000 new.
What it is rented for
Its most common job is vocal recording: a condenser such as the Neumann KM 184 or a dynamic such as the Shure SM58 goes into the valve preamp, through the opto-compressor and EQ, and out balanced to the SSL 2+ interface or the Zoom H6 Essential recorder. On stage it works as a premium vocal channel in front of a Midas M32r console, and its 1 MΩ instrument input takes bass or synths such as the Moog Subsequent 37 or Roland SH-101 directly, with no DI box. Two units can be linked for stereo tracking.
